Living the Laptop Lifestyle

Firstly, you may be asking what is ‘Living the Laptop Lifestyle’?

Well it is exactly as is suggested by the title……. you can earn an income via your computer.

With a Laptop and Internet connection you can virtually work from anywhere in the world!
This is what I do and there are many ways of achieving this.

Let’s first look at what the laptop lifestyle is not. The Laptop Lifestyle is NOT about working for other people. You don’t have to work for anyone else – it is just you and your laptop computer, making money from wherever you happen to be.

  • No boss
  • No clients ( you will have customers usually, but that is a different mindset)
  • No one telling you what to do

Living the laptop lifestyle you CAN make a difference in the world, your world and your friends and families world 🙂

The laptop lifestyle is a huge life change. It’s a way to ‘retire’ now and spend more time doing the things you want to do.

Living the laptop lifestyle allows you turn a hobby into a full-time income. You can actually start part-time, with no need to quit your job immediately (and I recommend that you commence this way), so there’s no fear about making the transition from being a full-time employee to a part-time online entrepreneur.

So is the laptop lifestyle for you?

If you answer YES to ANY of the following questions, then you NEED the laptop lifestyle:

  • Is going to work something you suffer through all week so you can enjoy the weekends?
  • Do you bury your dreams and passions so you can chase a paycheck every week?
  • Do you spend Sundays with a feeling of dread because you know Monday is right around the corner?
  • Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired of going to work every day?

Now as a caveat to the above, you must know that it is not a matter of simply creating a webpage and getting rich quick. It requires hard work, many hours of marketing and often  building your own ‘Brand’/ profile (although you do NOT need your own products to sell……. see Affiliate Marketing

However with the right tools and advice and following in the footsteps of those that are successful…AND there are indeed many…. you too can be living the Laptop Lifestyle like I am 🙂

Growth Mindset or Closed Mindset

Our guest blogger today is Yuri Elhaim. I recently received an Email from him and I would like to  share it with you here because it not only applies to a business mindset, but also to the potential outcome of one’s personal life.

Ask yourself…. Do you have a ‘growth mindset’ or a ‘closed mindset’?
How you interpret challenges, setbacks, and criticism is your choice. You can interpret them in a fixed mindset as signs that your fixed talents or abilities are lacking. Or you can interpret them in a growth mindset as signs that you need to ramp up your strategies and effort, stretch yourself, and expand your abilities. It’s up to you.

Here’s the deal:  Your business (and your personal life) is exactly where it is based on one thing and one thing only…

Your thoughts.

Without going into a big metaphysical lesson here, let me just
say that the biggest difference between those who achieve
greatness vs. those that settle for mediocrity is little more
than mindset.

You get exactly what you think about most of the time.

And so I challenge you to start thinking bigger because amazing
things can happen when you do.

The two forces that make anything “real” are desire and belief.

By focusing on what you want, instead of what currently is…

And actually believing you can have it, you’ll be amazed at what
happens. 🙂

Case in point:

‘Yesterday, my brother (who runs operations for us), told me that
one of the largest food distributors in Canada is excited to
produce and distribute our All-Day Energy Bars, which would save
us 50% off our current cost and sell nearly 10,000x as many!

They even said our bars are the BEST bars they’ve ever tasted and
likely the healthiest as well (at 14g of protein and 16g of fiber
with little to no sugar).

So we’re in the process of something HUGE.

And, out of the blue, 2 BIG (and separate) opportunities for
monster media buyers to make a ton of sales for 2 of our other
products fell into my lap just a few weeks ago’.

Big things are happening and I don’t say this to boast but to
illustrate what’s possible when you think big.

How did this all come about?…………. I honestly don’t know.

But for months I’ve been telling myself and visualizing that “I
expect and receive miracles in my life every day”…And that…“I always attract the right people to help my business grow.” (or attract positive people into your life if you believe in what you ask for!)

Sometimes all we need to focus on is the WHAT.

  • Let the HOW take care of itself………you have the gift to create magic
out of thin air. And your mind is where it all starts.
  • Don’t be limited by those around you.
  • Break through the status quo and challenge yourself to think and
    believe bigger.
  • Go after what you want because if you can think it and believe,
    you WILL achieve. It’s law!

When Opportunity Knocks- ANSWER THE DOOR!

Too often, the opportunity knocks, but by the time you push back the chain, push back the bolt, unhook the two locks and shut off the burglar alarm, it’s too late.” Rita Coolidge

When opportunity knocks, open the door and welcome it in because it may not knock a second time.
This is so true in life whether it be with a Business or a Personal Relationship.

Sometimes opportunity knocks, but most of the time it sneaks up and then quietly steals away”…Doug Larson

Many often take far too long to way up the pros and cons of an opportunity and lose out completely on that particular opportunity. Conversely, others rush on in before giving the opportunity some sensible consideration. It is actually a very fine balance between the two and one that I have more often than not, tipped the wrong way.

But you know, overall I would say that I have enjoyed the journey and whilst I have been burnt, bitten, stung and hung, drawn and quartered at times 😉 I have NO REGRETS!
Of course I have experienced HUGE learning curves but never regrets!

I would rather have had the experience in order to learn and grow from…. rather than to sit back in a shell and wonder ‘what if’.

The main issue with making decisions about ‘opportunities’ is the constant battle between the heart and the head. It is an age old battle that our inner self struggles with and one that causes endless debate amongst us.

However a third modifying influence joins the furore as referee between so called logic of the brain and the emotional decision of the heart…… That is what we call the ‘gut feeling’ or Soul. I have found that if I truly listen to my Soul then I will make the right decision. It may be wrong timing in relation to your current situation however reach out NOW and at the very least, hold onto the possibility rather than miss out forever!!

Music Helps Creativity

‘Listening to music at lower volumes helps creativity while loud music hinders it’….I have  always prescribed to the fact that music has inspired my artistic side. When I was drawing or sketching years ago,  I would choose appropriate music to play  in the background (at the volume I wanted and often under headphones) to set the mood for the theme of my work.

I was in fact creating a musical ambiance to assist in stimulating my imaginative juices to flow through to my drawing implement. The music also served to muffle the sounds of the day to day grind that was going on around me, allowing me to escape to the world that  I wished to portray on my sheet of art paper.

Similarly whilst I write, I often have a background ‘sound’ to place me in the right frame of mind depending on the topic that I am writing about and the time of the day that I chose to write it. This can be anytime over a twenty four hour period and I have often been known to awake at the witching hour of 3AM with many an idea. Of course then I DO place the headphones on 😉

So you may ask what I am listening to as I write this….“Michael, what are you listening to as you write this ;)’!!!  Well actually I am not listening to music as such but I am sitting back in bed with my laptop chillaxing to the  ‘Rain sounds with Tibetan Singing Bowls and Birds chirping! Seek it out on Youtube, you will be amazed at the variety of music and sounds available there.

Music not only serves to stimulate the creative juices but can also help in calming a restful spirit. It can assist those suffering from grief, illness or anxiety. It has served me well in all those circumstances……

5 Days to Conquer Your Self Destruct Habits

Hey,
Did you know that your habits are a result of your faulty paradigms?   That it actually isn’t your fault that you can’t stop doing the same thing over and over.  Is that a relief?  Now don’t get me wrong we absolutely must take responsibility and WE must change or we will stay where we are and I know that’s not what you want.
Now, are you wondering what a paradigm is?  Good question…
A paradigm is a set of habits, beliefs and values that locks you into a way of seeing and behaving.  You get locked into a way of seeing things a certain way and also behaving in a certain way. Do you ever notice how you say you’ll never act like your mom or say what she says until many years later you find yourself doing or saying the same thing? That’s a paradigm.
Your paradigm = Your Results
How do you like your results in your business, health, life, relationships?
If your paradigm is not in line with your goal then your paradigm wins and you stay stuck and unfulfilled.  Not fun! Let’s say your goal is to write a book. Your paradigm says “Who’s ever going to read it”. You want to lose weight. Your paradigm says “You will always be overweight”.  It’s that voice in your head that gets in the way…you know the one Michael.
So it all comes down to shifting that paradigm.  Is it worth it for you to achieve your dreams, stop settling, grow your bank account so you can be a blessing to others?  Then it is so worth it to do what’s necessary to shift.
I want to invite you to my 5 Day Conquer your Self-Destructive Habits Training starting Dec 1 on periscope Register Here Free.  You will receive replays of the videos but it’s much more fun to be live so we can interact.  What I’ve found is when people make the effort to be present live they are more successful.  It’s easier to watch replays but then no one really knows if you implement or not, am I right?
I really hope you will join us because I believe this topic fits everyone no matter where you’re at in your life or biz.  I want to empower you to get results and make them stick!
I will see YOU in the training.  It will be LIVE on Periscope TV @couragecrusader. We will also be interacting in my private FB mastermind community called Faith Centered Business Women. Request to join here.
Can’t wait to see you..its going to be A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!

Hey,

So, the other day I was getting a hair cut.

I’m sitting there while some guy is washing my hair – for an uncomfortably long time.

One thing I always try to avoid is unproductive uses of my time, and this was one of those moments.

So I decide to go to my iphone, and pull up my Audible.com app.

And I start looking for books to buy

There are hundreds of them in there. If my haircut had gone for longer, I could have continued scrolling through thousands of them.

I end up buying 20 of them – mainly just from the titles and covers, and whether I’d heard good things about them.

Here are the names of them in case you’re curious:

1. Time Management Made Simple by Brian Tracy
2. The Warren Buffett Stock Portfolio: When and Why He Is Investing in Them by Mary Buffett, David Clark
3. Leading Change: Why Transformation Efforts Fail by John P. Kotter
4. The Due Diligence Handbook for Commercial Real Estate: A Proven System to Save Time, Money, Headaches and Create Value When Buying Commercial Real Estate by Brian Hennessey
5. Financial Independence by Jim Rohn
6. The Laptop Millionaire: How Anyone Can Escape the 9 to 5 and Make Money Online by Mark Anastasi
7. The Intelligent Asset Allocator: How to Build Your Portfolio to Maximize Returns and Minimize Risk by William Bernstein
8. The E-Myth Seminar: Taking Charge of Your Business and Your Life by Michael E. Gerber
9. Beat the Crowd: How You Can Out-Invest the Herd by Thinking Differently by Kenneth L. Fisher, Elisabeth Dellinger
10. What It Takes to Be Number One: Vince Lombardi on Leadership by Vince Lombardi
11. The 80/20 Principle and 92 Other Powerful Laws of Nature: The Science of Success by Richard Koch
12. Commercial Real Estate Investing: The Essentials to Buying and Managing Commercial Properties: Financial Independence Books by Clayton Geoffreys
13. The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger (Second Edition) by Bud Labitan
14. It’s Not Luck: Marketing, Production, and the Theory of Constraints by Eliyahu M. Goldratt
15. The Warren Buffett Way, Second Edition by Robert G. Hagstrom
16. Den of Thieves by James B. Stewart
17. Passport to Exotic Real Estate: Buying U.S. and Foreign Property in Breathtaking, Beautiful, Faraway Lands by Steve Bergsman
18. The Lean CEO: Leading the Way to World-Class Excellence by Jacob Stoller
19. Piranha Marketing: The Seven Success Multiplying Factors to Dominate the Market You Enter by Joe Polish, Tim Paulson
20. The Chief Financial Officer: The Economist by Jason Karaian

I used to read paper books a lot, but not so much these days.

Now I prefer to consume my information visually, or through audio – listening to them on my headphones.

The great thing about having books in audio format on your phone, is that during all those moments when you’re unproductive, you can be listening and increasing your business knowledge.

So when you’re traveling to and from work (if you still have a job)…

Or standing in long queues…

Or laying in bed at night, unable to sleep…

Or walking to and from different places…

you can be feeding your brain useful business knowledge, and gaining an advantage over all your competitors.

The average person spends easily 90 minutes a day in these kinds of situations – and the average person wastes these opportunities to improve their knowledge (and then funnily enough, the average person complains about how difficult it is to get ahead!).

I receive no compensation for telling you this – but you should go to Audible.com, sign up for a monthly subscription, and start listening to business audio books just like I do.

Trust Me: 55 Ways to Build Trust and Credibility

1. It takes many years to become an overnight success.
2. Good intentions are just the beginning.
3. Your reputation is their first impression.
4. Show people that you care about their needs.
5. A promise should be as binding as a contract.
6. Never sacrifice a long-term relationship for a short-term gain.
7. Don’t expect people to look up to you if you look down on them.
8. Give credit where credit is due.
9. The danger of shooting from the hip is hitting yourself in the foot.
10. Be knowledgeable and remain current in your field.
11. Follow through on every commitment that you make.
12. Take the time to provide the rationale behind your recommendations.
13. Stay focused. Trying to be all things to all people is a guaranteed recipe for mediocrity.

15. Opinions held in secret never make a difference.
16. Never cut corners.
17. Stand up for the things that you believe in. (Waffles are for breakfast.)
18. Be a thought leader.
19. At the end of the day, you’re judged by the value that you provide.
20. Be straight with people. Tell it like it is.

23. Present both sides of an issue. (Let them judge for themselves.)
24. Be a good listener.
25. Disclose potential conflicts of interest.

27. Once you make a decision, don’t look back.
28. Always tell the truth or the truth will tell on you.
29. Surround yourself with people who have a high degree of integrity.
30. Your actions “off-stage“ (i.e., at an office party or on Facebook) impact your trust and credibility.
31. Typos and grammatical errors loom larger than life.
32. Remain transparent. (You’ll never be faulted for communicating too much.)
33. Never ask someone to do something that you’re not willing to do yourself.
34. Reliable and consistent behavior on your part allows people to anticipate what you’ll do in the future.
35. Do what’s right, even if nobody is looking.
36. You are judged by the company that you keep.
37. Your actions must match your words.
38. Being an expert in one area doesn’t make you an expert in everything.
39. Admit when you’re wrong.
40. Don’t submit unfinished work as complete.
41. Never confuse quantity with quality.
42. Think before you open your mouth.
43. People who “hard sell” don’t always have the facts on their side.
44. You gain more by making others look good than by singing your own praises.
45. Trying to be excellent in everything leads to mediocrity.
46. “Everybody does it” is a poor excuse for doing it yourself.
47. Words spoken in confidence are words spoken in trust.
48. Learn how to disagree without being disagreeable.
49. Repeating a rumor is as vicious as starting one.
50. People will test you in small ways before trusting you outright.
51. The only thing worse than talking about others is talking about yourself.
52. Great talent means nothing if you’re not dependable.
53. Few people will fault you for being tough, if you’re fair.
54. It’s not only what you bring to the table but how you serve it.
55. REMEMBER, trust and credibility take years to develop but can be lost in seconds.

Forgive and move on for YOU!

I know a number of You could heed this advice…I also know that from my own experience it is rather difficult to do.

Yet remember, it is only harming You and preventing You from moving forward with Your own life.
