It’s time to get stuff done!

It’s time to get stuff done!

It’s time to get things done! Sharing the thoughts of my friend Catriona Pollard, something that I know we can all relate to!…  Michael
Laptop-Lifestyle Michael-Thornley

“I have been in several situations lately where I have been asked how I manage to get so much done.

The truth is there was a time a few weeks back where I came into the office and said to my most trusted team member that I wasn’t coping. I had said yes to too many things – speaking gigs, gallery openings, exhibitions, mentoring, business operations tasks, writing, organising a trip overseas… and I could go on and on.

I was dealing with so much stress that I was waking up at 3am every morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. Which was good in one way as it meant I had more time to get stuff done. But obviously, not healthy.

Lists are my saviour

Jo, who has worked with me for a long time and knows how my brain works, said “Let me get my notepad”. She sat with me and I told her everything I had to do. Three pages of items later, she put them in order, and even typed up an action plan (similar to how we do client work).

I slept through to 5am that night…because I had some order to the chaos and a plan of attack. And you know what…I’ve nearly ticked everything off my list! Such a great feeling.

Ditch faffing

You know faffing…taking ages to make a decision or finish things off. I enjoy being highly focused, and often set myself false deadlines to eliminate faffing. Although, I find myself faffing about certain things…my inbox is currently sitting at 3,792 unread emails.

Use your time wisely

My business is run with military precision. We have procedures for everything. It’s structured in a way so time isn’t wasted. Also I maximise my effort and time. For example, all of the articles I write aren’t just used once in an email to you. They are used multiple times across every social media platform, sent to journalists, uploaded to news sites and then they are used in an ongoing basis as evergreen blog content.

I like to be busy.

I’m happier when I’m doing and achieving stuff. But I also need to have downtime, whether that’s catching up with the people that make me feel good, spending the afternoon at the day spa or walking in the bush. My mantra during these times is be still and let the beauty emerge.

Here’s to seeing you in the spotlight.”

Digital Information Products are the go and are Our Future! Don’t get left behind…..

Digital Information Products are the go and are Our Future! Don’t get left behind…..

Today’s post was inspired by a message from one of my Mentors
Matt Lloyd, CEO of MOBE (My Online Business Education).

Now I am a Titanium Business Consultant for MOBE. Yet the purpose of my blog today is to share with you the mindset and apparent reluctance exhibited by some people when it comes to purchasing or trusting in digital information products.

My business structure is based on digital information products. These include my published Amazon Kindle Books and my Business Education material with over 100 courses and resources available to you through my partnership with MOBE.

” As someone who markets digital information online, you will from time to time meet people who ridicule the idea of paying money in exchange for something they can’t hold in their hand.

Such people don’t understand the potential value of ideas—information you can use to do things, including making money.” Matt Lloyd

This does apply in some cases and in particular to those of an ‘maturing ‘ age   The younger ones have mostly accepted that we are already well and truly in the ‘Information Age’ (and yes, many of us older ones like me have also! )

” The kind of person who argues that buying digital information is essentially buying nothing (because you can’t hold it in your hand) is the same kind of person who would rather hold on to his $100 and suffer in freezing temperatures—perhaps become ill or even die—because it doesn’t buy him something he can hold in his hand.”

Indeed…. and perhaps they will never change. Yet let us look at just some examples of where one pays for ‘Information’ and I share the following from Matt Lloyd with you here:

” Digital information and downloads are the most modern method for doing something we’ve been doing for centuries: paying people for their knowledge and experience. Here are a few examples of that:

  • Education. You can pay five or six figures for a college education. You aren’t paying all that cash just for that piece of paper you get at the end, are you?
  • Lawyers. It can be quite costly to hire a lawyer to handle your will, divorce, incorporation, or to defend you in a legal matter. What do you carry out of their office in exchange?
  • Consultants. You hire them to advise you on how to expand your business or how to redecorate your home. Even a personal trainer is a consultant for your physical improvement. What do you take delivery of after you pay them?
  • Tax preparers. Unless you truly love to do your own taxes, most of us are more than grateful to be able to pay an expert to do it for us and, with electronic filing, walk out their office completely “empty-handed.”
  • Plumbers, mechanics. They often give you the benefit of their knowledge, even if they don’t have to replace parts.
  • Movies, concerts, sporting events. You buy a ticket and attend the show or event and all you get for the price of your ticket is an experience—nothing you can put in your hand or your pocket (except the actual ticket).”

Digital Products offer so much more!

Therefore we have already been accustomed to this type of service only that now there is so much more that is being offered via the Internet the World over..

I know that from when I first discovered the Net that my knowledge and skills have been enhanced immensely. The people I have met ‘online’and continue to learn from in life, is totally amazing. AND I have grasped this opportunity with both hands and learnt what I can in order to continually improve upon my experiences and knowledge.

So if you have had some reluctance in expanding your horizons on the Net, then it is time to push out from your comfort zone as you are missing out on so much information and personal growth.  I am here to assist you and guide you. So please do not be afraid to ask for guidance

One last question for you…. Have you read my E-books listed on Amazon yet? Check them out HERE!

Four Pillars of a Good Life- Health Wealth Love & Happiness

The Four Pillars of a Good Life are – Health, Wealth, Love and Happiness.

AGood Life’ is relative to the individual and the ‘4 Pillars of a ‘Good Life– Health, Wealth, Love and Happiness are the main criteria in varying degrees to achieve this goal. Together, they can create the lifestyle you seek and the ‘Good Life‘  you deserve!

Let us assist you in creating the Good Life with the Courses and Resources we have made available to you at Michael Thornley Org.

The Dalai Lama tells us that “The point to life is happiness.” Yet so many of us struggle to find it in a world full of stress and expectation.

(AP Photo/Rafiq Maqbool, File)

People tend to believe that in order to achieve happiness you need only have money (wealth) and to amass a host of material objects. But to have wealth alone does not necessarily bring you health, love and/or happiness.  Additionally, many people judge success purely on wealth, yet it is a combination of all these factors that achieves positive results in your life.

Remember, we should also be rich of heart and soul as well , an important asset to have in driving your passion to achieve your goals. And believing in yourself and having the faith and fortitude to step outside the square or at the very least to push out from your bubble is paramount in obtaining the ‘Good Life

I firmly believe that a combination of Wealth, Health and Love can indeed equal Happiness.  A ‘Good Life’ is a balance of all these factors. :)…………..

Solitude – Why solitude is good for business and your life

Greeting and blessings to all,

Once again my own mindset is in alignment with others. I am ready to take my ‘Bardic Gypsy’ tour from June this year to…….. whatever and wherever the Universe takes me.

Catriona Pollard is another I subscribe to both in the physical sense to her mailing list but more importantly to her mindset, her values and her guidance.

So I share with you now  her Email about Solitude and recharging that which is within. Part of the reason behind my road trip is to have that solitude, recharge my soul and experience the many wonders that Mother earth has out there waiting for us.

I am creating the life I wish to lead. No one else will do it for you. Many long hours and sacrifices have got me to this point where I can live the the ‘Laptop lifestyle’ I yearn for…. yes there are still some issues to overcome, but they are all external issues. In my heart and in my soul I know it is right for ME!

So what steps are you taking to make your life ‘RIGHT FOR YOU‘?

JUST DO IT & MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Why solitude is good for business and your life
by Today’s Guest Blogger Catriona Pollard

Over Easter I decided to have a holiday on my own. I’m not talking about booking a room at a fancy hotel for a couple of days R&R. I chose to walk about half of the world famous (and gorgeously beautiful) Great Ocean Walk in Victoria on my own.

While I’m a born hiker, I’ve never walked on my own. Some of my friends and family were concerned, but I just knew I would be okay.

The thing was. I craved solitude.

Why it was joyful

I loved the solitude because I deliberately chose it. It didn’t have any tinge of loneliness because it was self imposed and intentional which felt positive. It allowed a settling of thoughts and a burst of creativity. It allowed me to simply let ideas and concepts float to the surface.

Walking with butterflies

I didn’t need to fit in with other’s priorities or needs, just my own. So often in our lives – personal and professional – we can walk on paths that others choose for us – or that circumstances of life chooses for us.

 As I was walking all I could hear were my footsteps, the crashing of waves against the massive cliffs and the rustling of gum leaves in the trees. At times, I was joined by butterflies as I walked my path. And it truly felt like my path.

Connected but isolated

Even though I was on my own I felt really connected. So incredibly connected to the world around me, to my creativity, to my thoughts and ideas, to my sense of self and to the people who texted me every evening to make sure I was safe.

Seeing the beauty

As I walked I took the time to create ephemeral sculptures. Finding interesting sticks, stones – whatever caught my eye, I created sculptures which I simply left there. This practice represents the transitory nature of our lives, our problems and issues we face. We can create beauty from simple things around us.

My walk was a gift to myself
My limbs were aching, my toenails bruised, and as I finished the last few kilometres I felt like a warrior woman. You know the “hear me roar” kind of feeling. I’m now back in front of my computer with renewed energy for myself and my business!

So is there time for solitude in your life?

Here’s to seeing you in the spotlight.

Sort through the Chickens to find the Eagles!

” Sort through the Chickens to find the Eagles! Do you want to scratch around like chickens or soar with the Eagles?”

I love this analogy and this is true in life as in business. Many are simply happy and content with living their same old same old routine and that is fine. Whilst others wish to experience more in life and push out and motivate themselves to improve their lives…. that is fine too.

However, we will find that some of these chickens are envious of the eagles and so they mock the young eaglets as they try to fly. Yet when the Eagles do finally fly, the chickens become jealous of the freedom that the eagles have achieved in soaring high.

We all need to reassess our life’s plan at time. So ask yourself this question “am I happy with where my life is heading to or indeed where I have arrived at this particular moment in time? If so great 🙂 ……..  If not then ask yourself this “‘ What can I DO to make the necessary changes to get back on my life’s pathway. Remember, this is YOUR pathway.

To achieve this journey you need to remove those negative jealous chickens and surround yourself with other eaglets and eagles. Follow and learn from those that have achieved the life that you wish to have. Make a commitment to yourself to ‘Achieve Your Dreams’. There are very few things in life that are impossible to achieve. I agree that it is unlikely that I will ever be President of the United States or the Pope. However with all due respect to those that are elected to these most important public offices, I have no desire to be either of these roles, even if I could. This is NOT my life plan. But it is theirs and I admire and respect those that achieve their ultimate goal.

I have worked hard and long to get the lifestyle I wish. Yes I have made a great many sacrifices in both time and money. This is all part of the adventure! Yet with receiving some support along the way from those that at least believed in me, even if they do not necessarily agree with my method of achieving my lifestyle,  I am now well on my way to achieving my dreams!

YOU can do it too. Look around you. Who or what is not serving you and hindering you. If it is a thought in your own mind that is stopping you from achieving your goals, then work through it! Push out of your comfort zone, push away those that are planting these negative seeds and take a chance! If you don’t take chances in life then you will never achieve your full potential. Take a small step now…. then another and you will see that it is not that bad afterall. Yes it can be a daunting  but ‘just do it!.

His work as an entrepreneur has allowed him to travel all over the world, “living the laptop lifestyle,” through his positive midset and online income.
The Wealth Flow Formula is his plan for success in life, and you can share in it with him.
“Achieve your dreams” is his motto in life and the theme of his website where he records his daily thoughts and experiences in this practice.
As an author, he has penned numerous books, both fiction and nonfiction. Please check out his titles below by clicking on a book cover.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Twists-of-FateTwists of Fate is a spellbinding collection of 5 short stories set in the land down-under by Australian Author Michael E Thornley. The decisions and consequent outcomes made by the individual characters gives credence to the saying ” You Reap what you Sow’.
However, the choices that we make in life may not necessarily provide us with the outcome we desire. Yet it may reward us with the future we deserve, whether we wish it or not!. So be careful what you wish for as it just may come true!
Written in the narrative style of the ‘Twilight Zone’ the ‘Twists of Fate’ may not be what you expected. It certainly was not what the characters in the book expected!… that is part of the charm and enjoyment of this series of short stories by Michael E Thornley.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Being-a-Gentleman“Has the attribute of ‘Being a Gentleman’ and thus the Art of Chivalry been lost in a modern world? What have been the catalysts that have led to an ever changing role for men?

This is the question that Australian Author Michael E Thornley raises and discusses in this guide to ‘Being a Gentleman’. He has talked to a number of men AND women in the process of trying to establish reasons as to why the act of being a Gentlemen is fading from society and he has asked them all this question “is being chivalrous in fact … dead?”

You may feel challenged by some of the suggestions which have been put forward from his research and are presented to you is this book for you to contemplate. However there have to be reasons for a change in men and we as a society must consider these reasons closely whilst at the same time decide on how we will all move forward together to return to common courtesies.

Dating-on-a-budgetA humorous yet informative guide to those readying themselves for a journey into the world of dating. It also provides thought provoking ideas for couples looking to bring fun and frivolity back into their relationships.

There are practical solutions, numerous cost saving measures and handy tips for those on a limited budget. A lighthearted yet sincere look into world of dating.

Author Michael E Thornley supports many of the suggestions with his whimsical quips and forthright encouragement (and sometimes discouragement should the situation require it. e.g. Like “run for the hills “ 🙂

We are sure you will enjoy this guide and Happy Dating!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Day-in-the-life ‘A Day in the Life’ is a unique look at just some of the adventures that Australian Author Michael E Thornley has experienced over the last five years.
During that time he has traveled from Australia to Bali, Dubai, Spain, Canada and the USA, the latter where he lived for a year.
We share many of the humorous outcomes as he ventures out into the unknown on his daily walks! Well that is the unknown suburban streets and parks of cities around the world. Yet only he could have an adventure in such a situation what with bowling maidens over; being serenaded by turkeys and falling into large holes and having to be pulled out by his feet!
Michael is also in tune with nature as we find him trekking through woods to the Gates of Terror; chasing skunks over wetlands in the moonlight and having visitations from white coyotes and shovel nose rays.
Yet he also shares with us his inner most thoughts and emotions that are felt in some of the more serious moments. Hence it truly is a ‘Diary of Humour and Emotions.’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Who-is-in-your-family-treeWho is in Your Family Tree is a guide for the budding Family Tree Researcher or Genealogists as they are also known as… there we are, learning something already and you haven’t even read the book yet!

Michael E Thornley is not only an Author and Entrepreneur but in addition successfully runs ‘Thornley Genealogical Services’ as one of his businesses. “A man that wears many hats at once” he is sometimes heard to say. But he does this most successfully!

This book is a guide to the basics of ‘how to get started’ in researching your family tree. He has often been asked “ well I have seen all these links on the Internet about where to do the research BUT HOW do I get started??”

Thus Michael has put together a straight forward guide to answer some of the more common questions that are asked. He has also shared tips on what to expect when you start asking family and friends about ‘what they know’ in relation to ‘my family’. You may be surprised at some of the reactions!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HI!
Have you ever wanted to have all your “ducks in a row” before you got started?
Have you found yourself waiting until it’s the right time before you begin?
Have you ever made excuses for why you can’t get started or that it’s not the right time or you don’t have the money?
News flash….it will never be the right time…EVER!!!
You’ll never have enough money, you’ll always find a reason why it’s not a good time to get started. I’m here to tell you that there will never really be a good time, especially when you’re stepping outside you’re comfort zone.
How can you start without it being perfect. That’s what this audio training I am offering you today is all about.
With every journey it starts with a single step – Just get started
Sometimes our goals seem so big we are paralyzed and never get started. Just like the saying goes “How do you eat an elephant? Take one bite at time.”
If you took one step every day towards your goals where do you think you’d be in 1 week, 1 month 1 year later? That elephant wouldn’t seem so big after all. You would be farther ahead than if you continued to get things right, make it perfect, etc.
Ask yourself what your commitment is. Ask yourself if you’re acting based on your commitment. Are you closer than you were in January?
How badly do you want what you want? There is a difference between interested and committed. Are you committed? Interested is when you think it’s a good idea and committed is when you’ll do what’s seem hard.
What can you do today just to keep the movement going? What can you do to start imperfectly? Are you willing to be imperfect?
Your goals and dreams matter and there is someone that is waiting for you to step out and just get started. I invite you to listen to an audio I recorded last summer and is so relevant today.
If you’d like to learn more about how I’ve helped women just like you overcome obstacles, build a solid faith so your mindset is up levelled so you can start living on-purpose and truly have it all, then reply to this email. We can jump on a call and I can find out where you’re at so I can give you a tip, tool or strategy in right direction and you can see if we’re a good fit.
Sincerely,
Kristen Owens
Work-Family Balance Issues? Try These 9 Tips
Today’s guest post courtesy of Matt Llyod CEO MOBE.
Michael Ellis Thornley
Writer and Entrepreneur
“It’s not surprising that women and men alike say balancing work life with family life is an ongoing challenge. Juggling kids, a spouse and a career aren’t as easy as carving out time for each; it’s more like playing a 3-D chess game, which requires skill, advanced strategies and integrated thinking.
Instead of moving chess pieces on multiple boards, however, balancing the demands of work and family—especially for entrepreneurs—requires careful coordination, organization, communication and delegation. The good news is; it can be done. To help you attain a richer, more rewarding and balanced life, here are nine tips for balancing work and family:
1.  Rally your troops.
If your goal is to find balance, you’ll need to integrate your needs, along with those of your kids, spouse, career and friends, into a whole. But don’t do it alone. Get help from family, friends, neighbors and others when you need additional support. If you prepare for the unexpected by putting a solid contingency plan in place, you’ll find those last-minute emergencies to be a little less jarring. The key is to allow yourself to ask for and receive help.
2.  No bad feelings.
Everyone has been subjected to programming, and one of the ways people become conditioned over time is to feel guilty when problems arise. If you want to balance the ever-changing demands of work with your family responsibilities, start by saying bye-bye to guilt. It does no good because it keeps you rooted in what went wrong instead of what needs to happen to make it right—and it will only delay your progress toward attaining balance.
3.  Know when enough is enough and spread the word.
In a perfect world, you might not need to set boundaries … but here on Earth, you do. The limits you set are the only thing that could protect you from the actions of others. By defining what’s acceptable to you, you can determine how to manage your time, space and emotional availability.
Establishing clear boundaries makes the extent of your responsibilities clear. It also signals others regarding the types of demands you’re willing to accept. If you don’t set boundaries, you’ll find it much harder to say no. Remember, these are reasonable boundaries that you’re implementing for the well-being of your loved ones, and they’re necessary to balance the demands of work and family.
4.  Whose standards? Your standards.
The key to living a richer, more rewarding life is to set your own standards. That means ditching any illusions of perfectionism. Aim for small compromises that don’t undercut the interests of your spouse, kids, boss, friends or close family members. As long as you’re comfortable with the standards you’re setting for your work and home life—and your family’s needs and boss’ expectations are being met—you’re golden.
5.  Find Your “Alone Zone.”
With so many demands placed upon you, it’s easy to lose sight of your own needs. So, go for a walk, soak in the tub or find some other way to unwind, de-stress and ease the tension. Carving out a little “me time” will do wonders for your state of mind and overall health, and it will also benefit your family and co-workers.
6.  Everything should be in its place.
To effectively balance work and family, you’ll need to get organized. Start by setting your priorities, and be prepared to delegate. Remember that lists are your friend (and they’re re-usable!). Be sure to make room for an easy-to-reach calendar, so you can map out everyone’s activities.
7.  Stretch to stay flexible.
When you decided to have kids, you basically traded your what is for a giant what could be. So, embrace it. Cut yourself some slack when you miss an occasional goal or deadline. Just don’t get too comfortable, and be prepared to assume responsibility for any must-have projects or tasks that need to be completed, whether for work or home.
Staying flexible like this is one way to reduce the stress that comes with juggling multiple responsibilities. Another is to stretch your idea of success to allow for changes to your original game plan. Sometimes you have to revise your goals to allow for different-but-just-as-challenging ones. And that’s okay.
8.  Enjoy time with your family.
Your family is your greatest source of love and strength. By setting aside time to do things together, you’ll be investing directly in the people through whom all of your successes have relevance. So, commit to being with them and enjoying that time together. Create family traditions, play together and develop relationships with your spouse and children that will fuel your achievements in other areas of your life.
9.  Integrate for balance.
To find harmony in your life, you’ll need to integrate your work, family and friends into a unified whole. There’s no one way to do this—it depends on what you deem acceptable—so strive for balance and maintain perspective when the road gets bumpy. It’s all about finding ways to blend the needs of your loved ones with the requirements of your career.
Managing kids, a spouse and a career is never easy, especially for entrepreneurs. But you can attain a richer, more rewarding and balanced life if you develop a creative way to balance your family responsibilities with the demands of your career. Keeping these nine tips in mind should help.
Struggling to overcome fear & procrastination?
Hi,
Our guest post today is from our regular contributor Kristen Owens.
Have a great day!
Michael Ellis Thornley
Creator of the Wealth flow Formula
‘Aspire to Inspire before you Expire’
Kristen Owens
Hiya,
I spent a long time saying affirmations and still getting nowhere. I followed what other experts said to do but still saw no results.
I wanted to have all my ducks in a row before I got started…… Well not even all of them but at least a few and it still didn’t make a difference. My bank account month after month told me the same story that no matter what I did it wouldn’t be enough.
Do you know what it’s like to waver back and forth believing that it could be possible for you then when your circumstances say otherwise you then find yourself doubting, questioning whether you’ll get to where you want to go.  You’re motivated to keep going but you find yourself not following through on your initial commitments?  (Psst…my follow through used to be ‘not-so-good’)
Fear stops you from doing what you desire the most in your heart  because the defeating story you’ve created seems so real.
This is me for a very loooong time. I was in the game then I would pull myself out of the game quicker than you can say success!!!? I was one of those people that try to work on her inner game at large. When people asked me what I’ve done to stay in the game, overcome procrastination, fear and excuses” (that all seem never-ending) I tell them unequivocally  that it was an inner game. PERIOD!!!
Do you realize, that 40% of the population experience financial loss due to procrastination? Yikes!!! If you experience procrastination you are not alone and there is more to it than you might think. It downright sabotages any chance to your success.
Think about it!  How often do you procrastinate? How long have you been procrastinating? Do you make excuses after you’ve procrastinated to make you feel better and remind yourself that it is okay and there’s always next time? Or maybe you are one who beat yourself up?  Always telling yourself it’s not good enough or you’re not good enough?
What if you could go about your business (or life) productively on a daily basis while developing a personal action plan to increase results that leaves you feeling accomplished.   Your  belief rises in yourself, confidence  and courage flourishes drawing in your perfect clients (or connections) and big consistent paydays?
Trust me, it’s an amazing feeling on a daily basis to complete tasks that you know are moving your business (or life) forward and doing it without overwhelmed. All at the same time rewarding yourself for the small steps and craving million-dollar habits that will surely create the results you desire.
There are steps and tools to not only overcome the very thing that gets in your way which is what will explore in our time together. Steps to overcome the fear that comes up to hold you back from what you are capable of.
Here’s to Bust’in up 2016!
