My Life’s Mentors

In life we come across many who inspire us in some small way, yet there are others that have a profound affect on our lives. They are ‘Our Mentors‘.

I naturally acknowledge my parents and my other family members. However, I would also like to mention, with great love and respect,  the 3 grandparents that I had the privilege of knowing. All 3 had an enormous influence on me and I thank them for it!

Indeed there were others that I had either read about or viewed on TV when I was young and have followed them ever since.  They have inspired me in many different ways developing and spurring on common interests that grew from my heart.

What you seek is seeking you.” – Rumi
Your dreams are chasing you as much you are chasing them. Embrace that.

And now I share just some of them with you and hope that you too find inspiration in them.

Actually those that know me well can see a little of each of them in me. I say this most humbly…. but it is their influence that I now aspire to continuing in order that I may inspire others with their light through me 🙂

What you seek is seeking you.” – Rumi

Your dreams are chasing you as much you are chasing them. Embrace that.

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama is an inspiration to millions around the world. One does not have to be a Buddhist to feel the love and energy that emanates from His Holiness…. bless him always 🙂
Gerald Durrell
Gerald Durrell was an English naturalist, zookeeper, conservationist, author, and television presenter. He founded what is now called the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and the Jersey Zoo (now Durrell Wildlife Park) on the Channel Island of Jersey in 1958. But he is perhaps best remembered for writing a number of books based on his life as an animal collector and enthusiast. Being the ‘amateur naturalist’ I was delighted to discover his books as a young teenager and reading about his adventures with animals. It confirmed my desire to be a Zoologist 🙂
Sir David Attenborough
In addition to Gerald Durrell, Sir David Attenborough – Naturalist and ‘spokesperson for Mother Nature’ has been an enormous influence over the years and I am in awe of his animal encounters and adventures around the world. ” Best known for writing and presenting the nine Life series, in conjunction with the BBC Natural History Unit, which collectively form a comprehensive survey of animal and plant life on the planet.”
Danny Kaye
Danny Kaye was an American actor, singer, dancer, comedian, and musician. His performances featured physical comedy, idiosyncratic pantomimes, and rapid-fire novelty songs. He inspired me greatly and I am sure much of my quick ‘wit’ comes from his influence. Not only in the characters he played in the movies but from Danny himself! A very talented performer and forerunner to people like Robin Williams another whom I admired greatly.
Maurits Cornelis Escher
Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) is one of the world’s most famous graphic artists. His art is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world. I was a drawer sketcher from an early age and when I took on Art as a subject in High School I discovered Escher. I discovered that he drew in a manner, a style that  I desired to emulate. And drew so much inspiration from him. This is something I passed down to my son Blake who is also a talented ‘artist’.

Others who have inspired me

All of those above had a profound affect on me as I grew and continue to do to this very day 🙂
And there are many more that have at some time in my life, had an influence in my life’s direction.
So let me share a few more with you here.

Deepak Chopra is an Indian American author and public speaker. He is an alternative medicine advocate and a promoter of popular forms of spirituality. Oprah Winfrey has been a wonderful advocate for Deepak.
His Holiness, Mathias Mar Yusef, was born in San Antonio, Texas on March 19, 1946. He has lectured in Europe, India, and the US. Appointed Catholicos of the Apostolic Orthodox Church in 1994, and unanimously elected to the Holy Office of Patriarch in 1996. His Holiness was most supportive and generous of heart on my ‘spiritual’ journey. Together we set up the Patriarchal Order of Mar Gregorios. I became the 2nd Grand Master of the POMG. I was created a Prince of the Church. My blessings always to my dear friend and brother.

So who has influenced you in your life? Bless them and honour them and share their wisdom through your goodworks 🙂
